Gran Sasso

Gran Sasso National Park – Laga

Le più belle escursioni

The highest mountain in the Apennines, a colossus of rock a few kilometers from the sea, surrounded by a crown of giants.
The Intermesoli, the Corvo, the Cefalone, and then the Brancastello, the Prena, the Bandiera. A mighty chain of over 30 km that crosses the center of Italy imposing itself on the low hills that slope down to the sea.
Now a National Park, the Gran Sasso is a true and complete mountain: vast woods, immense grassy plateaus, vertiginous walls.
A choice of 64 itineraries to follow on foot to get to know all its aspects, from challenging climbs to the highest peaks to walks to visit castles and hermitages.
A rain of news, anecdotes, pills of history, which enrich and make the walk more exciting.

Alberico Alesi is a freelance architect and has been involved in the mountains since 1971, the year in which he began his mountaineering activity. He was president of the CAI section of Ascoli Piceno for 12 years. He currently chairs the Regional Delegation of the CAI of the Marche.

Maurizio Calibani teaches Mathematics and Science in the Middle School and has been practicing mountaineering since 1955. He chairs the Hiking Commission of the CAI Marche.

Antonio Palermi, USL technician, is National Mountaineering Instructor and Director of the CAI Ascoli School of Mountaineering.

They are well known in the Central-Southern environment for their commitment to dissemination and defense of the mountain carried out within the Italian Alpine Club. They are the authors of numerous successful volumes dedicated to the mountain ranges of Central Italy, appreciated by the public for their photographic quality and wealth of information.
