Appennino Bianco – 2

81 itinerari con piccozza e ramponi – ciaspole – sci di fondo

Sirente, Simbruini and Ernici Mountains, Abruzzo Park, Cinque Miglia, Majella

The Apennines described in the two volumes of this guide are the main massifs that rise between the Sibillini and Majella, the highest mountains, those that with the snow and ice of winter offer landscapes of exceptional beauty and itineraries of great suggestion.

While the first volume is dedicated to the northernmost massifs, the Sirente, the Simbruini and Ernici Mountains, the peaks and valleys of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, the Cinque Miglia and the solemn slopes of the Majella and the near Morrone.

Whether faced with an ice ax and crampons, cross-country skis or ciàspole, the mountains of the central Apennines show their most spectacular and wild face in winter. Especially at the highest altitudes, where the slopes of grass and debris turn into slides of snow or ice, and where the ridges traveled in summer become ridges sharpened by the wind.

This guide, created in collaboration with the Alpine Guides and the CAI, offers 81 itineraries, some classic and others unpublished or almost, to the many mountain enthusiasts who already frequent the white Apennines. And it explains to those who only know the trails in summer how to approach safely and with pleasure some of the most beautiful places in the Italian mountains.
