Cascata delle Marmore – Former Spoleto-Norcia railway (upstream) – Via dei Monasteri (upstream) – Umbriano – Former Spoleto-Norcia railway (downstream) – The water route
… And also the history, the art, the environment, the traditions of:
The Nera river, Castel di Lago, Arrone, Montefranco, Ferentillo, Umbriano, Ceselli, Scheggino, Sant’Anatolia di Narco, Castel S. Felice, Vallo di Nera, Cerreto di Spoleto, Borgo Cerreto
The Guida della Valnerina in Mountain Bike, is the first of five publications on southern Umbria and is characterized compared to the others because it frames the excursions in the geographical context. environmental and monumental in which they take place.
With the passage of time, Mountain Biking is becoming more and more a specific sport, the favorite excursions have a maximum length of 35-40 km, to be done without stopping, in three or four hours; not everyone feels like facing two hours of continuous ascent, or descending on cart tracks and mule tracks surrounded by the dense vegetation of the valley.
For this reason I decided to divide the guide into two parts: the first which deals with the historical and tourist aspects of the Valnerina villages touched upon in the excursions, and the second, consisting of removable plastic cards that describe the routes in detail.
I wish you a good read and a “good luck” for bikers.
