Appennino Bianco – 1
84 itinerari con piccozza e ramponi – ciaspole – sci da fondo
The Appennino Bianco guide is dedicated to all mountain enthusiasts who wish to explore the paths, woods, plateaus and peaks of the central Apennines even in winter. The first volume describes 84 itineraries with ice ax and crampons, snowshoes or cross-country skis on the Sibillini Mountains, the Laga Mountains, the Gran Sasso, the Terminillo, the Velino and Campo Felice. These places, fascinating at any time of the year, show their most spectacular and wild face in winter. And even with snow and ice, it is possible for hikers and mountaineers to discover traces of animals, rocks, valleys, peaks and landscapes of exceptional beauty. In winter, however, the mountains become more challenging than in summer, and require adequate equipment and experience. Among the fundamental objectives of Appennino Bianco is to invite hikers and mountaineers to visit the winter mountains in safety. This is why, in addition to the description of itineraries and suggestive photos, the guide offers advice and useful information to deal with all situations with caution and without risks. Created in collaboration with the Alpine Guides of Abruzzo and Marche and with the patronage of CAI Lazio, the guide reminds us that in the mountains, in winter, there is not only piste skiing, but it is possible to practice much quieter and more natural activities to appreciate the charm of the central Apennine mountains at its best, protected by four national parks and numerous regional protected areas.
