20 selected tours on the Island of Elba, in extremely different areas, both in terms of the possibilities for bikers and in terms of geography. In the western part we find greater differences in altitude and slopes, with typical mountain vegetation, and in the east we can see the typical Mediterranean scrub that extends over gentler hills. The difference in height is mainly due to the different geological ages: in the first case newer, and in the second case much older (approx. 7 million years versus 500 million years). While granite actually dominates in the western part, in the east we find much older rocks such as jasper, serpentinite, lime, along with iron and other minerals that have been mined on the island of Elba since time immemorial. In the central part of the island, however, the network of paths is characterized by the nature of the soil on which holm oaks, strawberry trees, feather grasses and cork oaks grow. The surface is often easy to ride on, without any particular technical difficulties, and is therefore suitable for the majority of bikers.
