Grande traversata della Toscana a piedi
700 km tra Pisa, Firenze, Arezzo, Siena e l’Isola d’Elba San Quirico d’Orcia Radicofani Sorano Sovana
An unprecedented itinerary in Tuscany, among historic streets, nature and cities of art: on the road for a month, a week or just for a long weekend. Pisa, Florence, Siena, Arezzo, and then on foot along the paths and dirt roads of the Valdarno, the Chianti hills and the Val d’Orcia, surrounded by wheat fields and Romanesque parish churches. And again: along the Via Francigena, almost up to the border with Lazio, passing through the Etruscan settlements of Pitigliano, Sorano and Sovana, among ancient necropolises connected by millenary roads dug into the tuff. Finally the Maremma, traveling towards the coast, and the Cavalleggeri path overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, between isolated coves and watchtowers. The last stop is the wild island of Elba, to be explored by following the Grande traversata Elbana. For each stage, detailed maps, elevations, description of the route, where to sleep, and the most significant places to visit.
