Guida alla Via degli Abati
192 chilometri da Pavia a Pontremoli e ritorno
Eight days on foot or by bicycle through the Apennines in the footsteps of the abbots of San Colombano: from the Oltrepò Pavese hills and from the Trebbia and Nure valleys of Piacenza to the Ceno and Taro valleys of Parma, up to the Magra valley. Through historic and evocative locations such as Bobbio, with its famous abbey, the medieval castle of Bardi, and Pontremoli, in upper Lunigiana. The Via degli Abati, also known as the mountain variant, also represents an interesting alternative for pilgrims on the Via Francigena. The guide describes the route in both directions, for those departing from Pavia to Rome, but also for those traveling from the South. With detailed maps, route indications, where to sleep, descriptions of the most significant places to visit and the stories related to San Colombano and the abbots of Bobbio.
